The venue for our next lunch is the luxurious Gleneaagles Town House, Edinburgh.

Tom Kitchin has acquired the Golf Inn in Gullane and is transforming it into a restaurant "with rooms". Work is still on-going with this project and the event will be updated in a few more weeks.

Borthwick Castle is one of the finest and best preserved 15th century keeps in Scotland. An imposing fortress composed of a massive double tower surrounded by an embattled wall, it is much admired for the beauty of its proportions as well as the solidity and accuracy of its masonry. It is the culmination of a rich 600 year history which starts with its creator, Sir William de Borthwick, and continues through some of the most dramatic episodes in Scotland’s past. The castle sits on a knoll – the ‘Mote of Lochwart’ - at the centre of a small but well cultivated valley, well positioned to guard the road south to the Borders from Edinburgh. One of Borthwick Castle’s most striking features is a large gouge in the stonework of the East wall. Historians believe that this was created in 1650 by Oliver Cromwell as his Parliamentarian forces marched through Scotland en route to Edinburgh. The 10th Lord Borthwick was instructed by Cromwell to leave his castle, he refused, and the resultant damage from Cromwell’s canons can be seen to this day. As a result of this no member of the Borthwick family inhabited the castle until 1810 when J. Borthwick of Crookston bought it back.

Our festive season event will be in the magnificent New Club in Edinburgh.

Following feedback from our members we have reverted back to our usual venue of the Royal Overseas Club which really is the best vantage point in town.

Our beloved Kinnaird has now reverted to private ownership, so we have decided to hold our annual spit roast at our home in Angus.

Our first event of 2016 is a valentine lunch amical in Melrose at Monte Cassino. We will travel from Edinburgh on the new borders rail-link.

Returning to Fonab this year for a literal "White Christmas" at the Festival Theatre with dinner afterwards. The spa at Fonab is now open and I am sure it will be just as FAB as the Castle.

The second of our most successful events is to be repeated again. Please note the change of date.

This weekend sees us travel over the sea to Lewis and surrounding islands.

Once again we return to Kinnaird where we always feel at home.

This event has been cancelled due to issues with the Western Rail.

Following the success of the last steam adventure we are delighted that we are able to have another.

Fonab Castle is situated in the famous town of Pitlochry within walking distance of the Festival Theatre. This year’s offering is Miracle on 34th Street and we will combine this with a fabulous dinner in the castle.

Our last gathering of 2013 will be held in Edinburgh at The Plumed Horse in Leith with Tony Borthwick,Executive Chef

The Caledonian Hilton featured in our Grand Chapitre 2011 in Edinburgh. We are returning to experience the newly refurbished "Caley" Waldorf Astoria one of the iconic landmarks of Princes Street.

The Bailliage of Scotland is hosting a group of Chaine members from the Bailliage of Denmark for a four day weekend.

The spectacular ending to the Edinburgh Festival combining great music with superb fireworks.

We are returning to the fabulous Kinnaird estate to hold our annual spit-roast. The setting of this property overlooking the River Tay is a perfect location for an outside gathering.

The Baillage of Scotland will host a group from the US North Pacific Bailliage who are cruising round Great Britain. They will berth in the Port of Leith on Friday 24 May.

The Burns gathering will now take place in the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in Edinburgh.

Off to Pitlochry for a theatre trip - White Christmas (let’s hope it is!).

Turnberry in Ayrshire is world famous for golf and "Oor Rabbie" otherewise know as The Bard.

November 1st 1921 – An old Inn on the edge of the Bohemian forest in Bavaria.

20 guests of Count Carl Theodor Drunkula, have assembled at The Inn for dinner having received personal invitations to attend a “very special banquet” (something the Count is famous for). The Guests arrive, the Countessa and her son arrive, but the Count does not! (Having set off one hour before his wife - he said “to get things ready” ) The Inn is only five minutes from the Count’s castle.

The cocktail party is in full swing when the police arrive and inform the Countessa that her husband has been found hanging from a tree behind The Inn…..

An event not to be missed!! This was one of the highlights of our calendar last year which is why it is in again in 2009.

Our Annual General Meeting and Gala Dinner will be held at the Kinnaird Estate in Perthshire on 24 and 25 April 2009.

This is going to be a fun event held in conjunction with the Fife Music Festival and "The snowdrop walk" at a local Fife castle estate.
