The weekend package would be built up along the following lines: Collection Friday afternoon by bus from Inverness airport and train station, welcome champagne and Belhaven Smokehouse salmon canapés on the bus, transfer to Helmsdale. Check into the rooms, short rest, shower, change. Pre-dinner presentation of our 200 bottle single malt collection by an invited Whisky expert and testing of two famous blends from the nearby Glenmorangie Distillery accompanied by air dried venison and fresh langoustines. Followed by a Seafood dinner comprising of a testing of our homemade Lobster bisque, Cullen Skink and Cream of Crab Soup, followed by a seafood platter with fresh lobster from our tanks, local queen scallops and Tain mussels mariniere, desert. After dinner, we propose to have a small cheese buffet in the bar, for the testing of five typical single malts.

On Saturday after an early breakfast with scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, or kippers with poached egg, croissant, toast and homemade jams and marmalade, departure by bus to John o’Groats, then by ferry from Gills Bay to Saint Mary’s Hope on Orkney Main Land, drive along the Scapa Flow to Kikwall visit Highland Park Distillery and St Magnus Cathedral, then on to the stones of Stenness and the circle of Brodgar. The journey then continues to the oldest settlement in Europe; Skara Brae, which is virtually intact and older than the Pyramides! Thereafter the bus will bring us to Stromness and onto the ferry to Scrabster, from where we return to Helmsdale where we should arrive around 6pm. Lunch en route will be included as well as teas, coffes, various beverages and nibbles on the bus.

After a short rest, shower and change, the actual evening can commence with a champagne apero, to which we suggest fresh Kyle of Tongue Oysters and Helmsdale Crab Claws, followed by the dinner as outlined above.

Sunday morning, late full Scottish breakfast with a choice of black pudding, white pudding, homemade sausages, bacon and haggis from our local butcher in Wick, as well as eggs, wild forest mushrooms and grilled tomatoes.

Visit to the Time Span Centre opposite the Hotel, which is one of the most active Visitor’s Centre in the region and has a very comprehensive and in depth exhibition about the Highland clearances, as well as old Helmsdale in general. Thereafter a light lunch in our "Red Lobster" restaurant with a choice from our 16 homemade soups. After lunch, departure of the bus to Inverness.
