Steve has been in the hospitality business for 40 years having initially trained as a chef at the Copthorne hotel in Crawley in 1976. After gaining hospitality management qualifications in Portsmouth he then moved to California where he developed a love of Mexican food. Returning to the UK in 1995 he has subsequently spent the last 20 years in educational institutions running catering contracts for Compass Group which has allowed him to exercise his passion for helping young colleagues develop their careers in cookery and food service.

Janet Wigley
Vice-Chancelier/Argentier

Janet is Operations Director for Compass Group UK & Ireland and has been in the hospitality industry for 20 years. After she finished training, Janet started her hospitality career in 1996 at a five star Relais Chateau hotel in South Africa before joining Compass Group South Africa in 1998 for four years in various catering and chef manager roles and then making the move to the UK in 2002 joining Compass Group UK&I. Her UK career started as hospitality manager in Universities progressing to Regional Manager over 9 years before taking the plunge into the Sales world eventually becoming responsible for the retention of all existing contracts in the Defence, Offshore and Government sector. In 2015 Janet returned to operations. Here she is helping her team to build the ESS brand as the first choice for both clients and consumers in the government sector and enjoying being back in the world of operations. She has a love of both eating and cooking great food, washed down with champagne, of course!

Stephen Goodwin
Vice-Chancelier/Argentier Honoraire

Stephen graduated from UWIST in Cardiff and went on to spend over 30 years in the IT industry. Latterly he undertook project management for a variety of clients in the public sector. A self-taught cook (French cuisine of course!), he has had a long interest in food and wine and still enjoys cooking at weekends! He fully retired in 2008, since when he has been involved in various nature and wildlife conservation groups. He joined the Chaine in 2008.
