@Angela’s Restaurant

Our restaurant is little off the beaten track in the west quarter of the city but offers quality dining in Exeter. We accept that we may be easily missed by a casual glance, perhaps that’s why we attract guests searching for a little gem of a restaurant, we try to be part of a neighbourhood that attracts people locally and from around the world, who become our guests throughout the year.

The Fish and Seafood we use come from Brixham and Exmouth, day boat landed. Scallops are a very popular dish, so too is Turbot, Monkfish & John Dory. Mussels from Elberry cove and Crab from Labrador Bay. Channel Island Lobster by arrangment.

For our meat eaters the steaks are sourced from Pedigree Long Horn or Angus Beef just on the outskirts of Sampford Peverell. The best Burlescombe Lamb, West Country Duck and Pork also feature. Seasonal Game feature when available and in season.

We have an interesting quality wine list and small but well stocked bar serving local gins, ales, lagers and spirits.

Lympstone Manor

Lympstone Manor is an historic Grade II listed Georgian manor house, creatively and comprehensively transformed into a contemporary country house hotel. Situated overlooking the mouth of the Exe estuary, our 21 luxurious guestrooms and suites take full advantage of this wonderful situation. To reflect this, they are each named after the birds of the Exe estuary. With hand-painted original artwork by local artist Rachel Toll as colourful as the birds that inspire each room, our guestrooms embody our vision of luxury, refinement, comfort, quality, and originality. The majority look out on unrivalled panoramic views of the Exe estuary and across the verdant hills of Devon.

Dining at Lympstone Manor is an exceptional experience in every way. In the beautiful fine dining rooms of a Georgian mansion, Michael Caines MBE, chef/patron and one of Britain’s most celebrated and influential chefs, is able to fully express his vision of modern British cuisine that is fresh, seasonal, original, and exciting. Utilising the bounty of the Exe estuary, East Devon and the Southwest, his faultless cuisine is superbly matched by wines selected from a world cellar that contains over 600 bins.

The Castle Hotel

The Castle is one of the most renowned 4-star hotels in England. It is also one of Great Britain’s most historic, with origins stretching over 1000 years. For more than 60 years, it has been run by three generations of the Chapman family.

Sitting at the gateway to England’s West Country, The Castle provides an ideal mix of town centre convenience with easy access to some of the most breathtaking landscapes that the South West has to offer.

The Castle’s philosophy of using only the finest local ingredients, translates into a dining experience that highlights the very best of the West Country.

Whether you are dining in Castle Bow, the Castle’s elegant but casual restaurant, BRAZZ, the contemporary brasserie or you’re having a light bite in Bow Bar, you can expect the best food in Taunton.

Our Chefs handpick their suppliers and foods from top quality producers in the region. Our meat is from J&A Gibbins of Exeter, a family run butchers for over 150 years, and our dairy products are from Longman’s Dairy in Yeovil, Somerset. We also highlight artisan cheeses from Somerset & Devon as well as grow our own herbs in The Castle’s Norman garden.

The pride and craftsmanship of our ingredients and the final plates that The Castle’s kitchen produces, shines through in every mouthful. We are so passionate about our food, that some of the best chefs in Britain have been inspired whilst working with us. Our string of successful chefs includes Gary Rhodes & Phil Vickery. Today, Liam Finnegan, who previously worked under Michael Caines at Gidleigh Park and Bath Priory, heads The Castle’s kitchens with his highly experienced team.

Our breakfast chef, Gerry Barge, has been with us for more than 40 years and makes all of The Castle’s jams and preserves. If you ask, he will make one for you to take home!
