It is our Christmas event of 2024 and should be a finale to a great Chilterns Chaine year. Located between Marlow and Henley, this stunning “Quintessentially British” country house hotel sits high on a plateau above the River Thames in 65 acres of landscaped gardens and is just 30 minutes from London. Constructed in locally quarried rock chalk and completed in 1901, this historic Mansion was built in the Italian Renaissance style as probably one of the last great family homes of the period. The House was subsequently requisitioned by the war office to become the Centre for Allied Photographic Intelligence of RAF Medmenham during the Second World War, before opening in its current guise as a luxury hotel in 1991. 2016 saw the hotel celebrate its 25th Anniversary.

Executive Chef Matt Edmonds have produced a classical menu with wine pairings and promises to be an outstanding evening. Matt turns simple produce into well executed modern British food whilst the restaurant at Danesfield House is a frequent recipient of awards for its smart and approachable wine list.

By road:

Danesfield House has excellent onsite parking. Follow Sat Nav to SL7 2EY From the South or from Reading: It is 33 min drive (13.3 miles) Via the A4155 from Reading Station towards Henley. Follow this road for approximately 8 miles until you see the Danesfield House Sign on the right hand side. From the North: Exit the M40 at the A404 Junction and head down the A404 to the A4155 to Marlow. Follow A4155 towards Henley for approximately 3 miles until you see the Danesfield House sign on the left hand side.

By rail:

Danesfield House can be easily accessed by a short taxi ride from either Marlow or Henley-on-Thames stations. Please see www.nationalrail.co.uk for further details.

By taxi:

There are two Taxi ranks at Reading station, one on the town side, one on the Caversham side. Either will do and it is a c£40 journey. Or call 0118 9 500501 if you want to book 500 Cars, who gave the quotation.
