News From Your New Baili

As one of my first ‘jobs’ as your new Bailli I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and more importantly thank Jacqueline (and the rest of the committee) for all she (and they) have done for the Cotswold Bailliage over the last 3 years, it is no mean feat just to keep the events going, let alone all the other roles she has taken on! She has been and continues to be a great support to me while I settle in and look forward to building on all the hard work she has put in over the last 3 years as Bailli, and I look forward to working with Mandy and Mary.

The Grande Chapitre in Bath went well. The Cotswold Bailliage took a major role in the Induction ceremony with Jacqueline and Alan Cox receiving an award and 3 members being awarded their ribbon, plus of course the induction of your new Bailli.

So perhaps you would like to know a little about me?
I am a professional member, having worked most of my life abroad running hotels in Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Thailand, Bali and The Maldives. I was inducted into The Chaine in 2010 in Bali and very much enjoy events that really challenge the venues in a positive way and give them a chance to really stretch themselves.
My family and I returned to the UK in 2011 and took on the challenge of The Swan Hotel in Bradford on Avon, for those of you that don’t know the town it is a very pretty town but is prone to flooding, having a hotel next to the river did mean that we were, on a number of occasions, ‘Bradford in Avon’ rather than ‘Bradford on Avon’.

In 2022 we then took on The Old Bell Hotel in Warminster as well, a year later relinquishing The Swan to be able to concentrate on just the one hotel. We specialise in Thai cuisine and have a Thai restaurant as well as a pub, complete with Thai Chefs in our kitchen.

I am very excited to take over as your Bailli and I look forward to building on (and trying to live up to) the fantastic work of my predecessors. Please feel free to contact me with your ideas, suggestions and concerns and I look forward to meeting many of you at our next event at The Pony on November 6th.
For those of you who have been inducted I hope you will agree your ribbon is a lovely accessory and for that reason I will encourage ribbons to be worn at events, please feel free to bring and if you wish, wear your ribbon at The Pony in November.
