The Golden Ball – Review

Member Review

Pauline Conway,  Vice-Chargée de Missions, gives her account and pictures of lunch at the Golden Ball, Chilterns Bailliage.

A perfect way to spend Friday afternoon, with the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs’ Chilterns Bailliage. An organised lunch at The Golden Ball restaurant in Lower Assendon, a short distance outside Henley on Thames in the heart of the Chiltern Hills.

Their menus feature modern British cooking, “with the occasional subtle touch of Indian spices, local and seasonal ingredients taking centre stage”.

Starting with the delicious Hundred Hills 2021, the vines are located just 4 miles further up the Stoner Valley, it is a wonderful English Sparkling Wine. Followed by a series of “wow” dishes and excellently paired wines, add  very attentive service, and it was just fabulous.

Vive la Chaîne !
