OMGD Great Britain Chapitre

Those attending the OMGD Winemakers Dinner enjoyed a stunning event at the Hyatt Regency “The Churchill” on Portman Square in London.

Host for the evening was Matteo Allegrini, the estate’s Oenologist and Export Director who guided members and guests at the reception and dinner through seven wines from the world famous Allegrini Estate in northern Veneto. Their top wines La Grola and La Poja are highly sought after, the latter being produced in limited quantities from the hilltop vineyard.

The food and wine pairings were a delight as Executive Chef Carlo Martino and his team pulled out all the stops to create a special menu.

"Executive Chef Carlo Martino, a Maître Rôtisseur member of the Chaîne, created the special menu to show off the Allegrini wines to their best "

All of the food and wine pairings were excellent!

Before dinner, there was an Induction Ceremony, not only for OMGD (Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs) members but also for Bailliage of Great Britain Chaîne members. We were privileged to have Marie Jones, International Vice-President act as Sword Officer for the induction and there was a very special moment when she inducted her grandson, James Mitchell as Chevalier. We welcome all our new members to the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, Bailliage de Grande Bretagne.

Thr photographs from the induction are available in the Gallery section of this website.

Allegrini: family and wine intertwined with history

Nestled in the heart of Italy’s Valpolicella Classica region, Allegrini Wines stands as a beacon of tradition and innovation. Since 1854, the Allegrini family has cultivated vineyards in Fumane, Verona, crafting wines that reflect centuries of heritage and a passion for excellence. Today, led by the dynamic heirs of Giovanni Allegrini, the winery blends classic varietals with modern, eco-conscious techniques to produce over 2 million bottles annually.

Allegrini’s portfolio showcases iconic reds like Amarone della Valpolicella and Palazzo della Torre, alongside refined whites such as Lugana Oasi Mantellina. Each bottle tells a story of terroir, family, and artistry—from the hillside slopes of La Grola to the elegant cellars of Tenuta Merigo.
