One of the benefits of membership of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is the opportunity to travel to events all over the world.
In late August, several members of the Chaîne from Great Britain travelled to Liechtenstein for a Grand Chapitre that combined Alpine hospitality, historic ceremony and accomplished cooking.
The three-day visit opened in Vaduz, where an aperitif at the Mövenpick Wine Cellar introduced guests to the principality’s vinous character. Guests from near and far had the opportunity to get to know each other over a glass or two of good wine before the party continued to the welcome dinner. Visitors had the option of Vivid Restaurant in Triesen or Marrée Restaurant, Vaduz.
The next day the mood became heartier at Schaan’s Braustube. Creamy potato soup with beer foam preceded pork neck and belly with beer sauce, Bavarian sauerkraut and bread dumplings, while homemade beer-amisu ended dinner with wit.
Music from Die Bauernfänger and the launch of a special Chaîne beer created by Liechtensteiner Brauhaus AG gave the evening unmistakable local flavour.

On Saturday, the British contingent visited Gutenberg Castle in Balzers, whose rarely opened gates revealed layers of history. The courtyard then provided a memorable setting for the Induction Ceremony, accompanied by Brassidenz, a brass ensemble from Vaduz.
One of the British contingent, Nina Chivers from Mercia Bailliage, was inducted as an Officier before a vin d’honneur in the Rose Garden.
