The Wykeham Arms

For a historic inn in Winchester look no further than The Wykeham Arms. Sandwiched between the Cathedral and the 14th century college, this luxurious town pub with rooms is surrounded by heritage. Since 1755, when it was a coaching in, there has been a pub on this site, quenching the thirst of travellers moving to and from the coast. Lord Nelson himself was said to have stayed here in his way to Portsmouth! The pub is named after William of Wykeham, the 14th century Bishop who founded Winchester College.

A perfect place for lunch or an evening meal, the menu is a seasonal mix of high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients; and with five ales on tap, 70 hand-picked wines and a selection of sherries, ports and sparkling wines, there’s always something to accompany it.

The Wykeham Arms has outside seating and a relaxing garden, making it a great pub for summer. Coming in winter? Our roaring log fire makes it one of the cosiest pubs in Winchester!

Awards include 2014 Trip Adviser Certificate of Excellence and 2013 Good Pub Guide Town Pub of the Year
