Rising Stars of Wine: UK Young Sommelier Competition 2026, Shines at The Savoy

On Friday 10th April, the UK Young Sommelier Competition 2026, hosted by the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, took place at the iconic Savoy, London — a fitting stage for a contest that brings together some of the country’s most promising young sommeliers. The event showcased not only technical skill and encyclopaedic wine knowledge, but also the professionalism, poise, and hospitality values that define the modern sommelier.

This annual competition forms part of the Chaîne’s global commitment to nurturing emerging talent and elevating service standards across the hospitality sector.

Candidates are tested through blind tastings, theory examinations, food and wine pairing challenges, and practical service assessments that mirror the pressures of a world class dining room. The UK winner will go on to represent the nation on the international stage later in the year.

The journey now moves toward its culmination at the Awards Night on 10th May 2026 at The Cadogan Hotel, where excellence will be formally recognised and the winner announced. Beyond the title itself, the competition offers participants mentorship, industry visibility, and a platform that has historically launched careers in Michelin starred restaurants, luxury hotels, and leading wine programmes.

Congratulations to all participants for raising the bar and representing the future of the hospitality and wine industry with such distinction. Their dedication reflects the evolving role of the sommelier — not only as a wine expert, but as a storyteller, educator, and ambassador for the craft.

The top scoring final three, in alphabetical order are

Kamila Blaszczyk , Celeste, London Bailliage
Barnaby Lewis, Cornus, London City Bailliage
Thomas Weston, Estelle Manor, Chilterns Bailliage
