Arthur Davis
Vice Chancelier Argentier Honaire

Monsieur Robert Baty intronised Arthur into the Chaîne in 1994 at The Four Seasons Hotel in London. Arthur was very active in keeping the Thames Valley Bailliage going during the late 90s, and was elected Vice Chancelier Argentier at that time. Prior to retiring Arthur was a Master Butcher, and is currently very active in fund raising events for his local Rotary Club.

Danny Steck
Vice Conseiller Culinaire Honaire

The only “Franglais” on the committee of the Thames Valley Bailliage. In 1959 he left France to work in Switzerland as Maître d’Hotel. He went to Sardinia in 1966 to the Costa Smeralda for 6 months and stayed for 13 years. In the 1970’s he was Chef/Patron of a French restaurant and an English pub and intronised as Maître Rôtisseur by Monsieur Valby in 1974. In 1979 he came to the UK, and ever since has worked as Head Chef in various Hotels and Clubs.

Andy Angel
Vice Chargé des Missions

Andy has worked in the international communications sector for over 25 years, which has given him the opportunity to travel extensively and develop a taste for many different cuisines – particularly Japanese. He also benefited from having a French Father-in-Law, so fully appreciates the pleasures of the table.

Alan Connor
Vice Chancelier Argentier

Alan’s banking background brought him into contact with many clients in the catering profession through which he developed a particular interest in Asian and Oriental cuisine. Married to a New Zealander, he is a frequent visitor “down under” and an enthusiastic advocate of Southern hemisphere food and wine. Since taking early retirement from banking, Alan has worked as a self-employed export credit risk consultant and has been a Chaîne member since 2002.

Robert Hughes
Vice Conseiller Culinaire

Robert has been in the catering industry for 50 years. He studied at Croydon Technical College and held the position of Executive Head Chef in a major London hotel and management positions in the oil industry, universities and large scale catering establishments. He has given guest lectures and judged at various catering colleges. He originally joined the Chaîne in 1978 but due to heavy commitments lapsed his membership for ten years and re-joined Thames valley Baillage in 2002.

Peter Baics
Vice Chargé des Missions

Peter was born in Hungary and got involved in the catering and hospitality industry very early, serving his first guest at the age of 14, and then became very passionate about the food and wine. Peter studied Hospitality Management in Hungary and Australia. In 1998 he left Hungary to gain some international experience. During his time he has worked and lived in Australia, Israel, Egypt, United States and visited and enjoyed the hospitality and gastronomy of nearly 40 other countries. Even though he has had the opportunity to taste many different styles of cooking, the true Hungarian cuisine remains his all time favorite. Currently Peter is Restaurant Manager at the RAC Country Club in Epsom and is very proud to be a professional member of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
