London

The London Bailliage is the largest and oldest Bailliage in Britain. In 2009 we look forward to celebrating our 50th anniversary.

We comprise a cosmopolitan group of enthusiastic amateur gastronomes and working professionals who enjoy good food and wine in each other’s company.

London is one of the world’s greatest culinary cities and we count ourselves fortunate to be able to take advantage of so wide a range of cuisines and venues, some not otherwise available to the private individual. We meet four or five times a year for lunch or dinner, some black tie and others more casual.

On occasions we will “push the boat out”. A recent highlight was our boat trip down the Thames, in summer sunshine, plied with canapés and pink champagne, en route to lunch at Cliveden. Trips further afield have included ventures to Stravangar and Oslo to attend Norwegian Chapitres and to Dublin.

Chaîne membership gives access to events organised by Bailliages throughout the world. We take pleasure in welcoming visiting members from abroad, travelling alone or as part of an organised Chaine tour, have enhanced our dining experience. Indeed, we have put on events especially for such tours, most recently for members of a USA bailliage on a European cruise. You are most welcome to come to one of our events as a paying guest and experience the friendly atmosphere in which we enjoy the wonderful food and wine our professional members make available to us.
