The Deep South comes to Winchester
Members of the Bailliage of New Orleans was welcomed to Winchester by members of the Wessex Bailliage on a June morning. Our American cousins had been cruising the Baltic and their ship was now docked in Southampton.
Under the gaze of King Alfred (his statue is in The Broadway) the day began with a city tour through the Abbey Gardens to Winchester Cathedral and its thousand year history, then on to the Great Hall, the original English Parliament, which houses King Arthur’s magnificent round table.
