The French Table, Surbiton

February 15, 2019

We are back!

Welcome to 2019 and what a start to our gastronomic year. Eric and Sarah have selected a menu and accompanying wines to bring our palates alive, but offer comfort eating too. What could be better?

Apart from that, Eric has had some serious accolades, not least of which was from Steve Drake, of Sorrel. Steve [ex-The Clock House in Ripley] started his new venture with Sorrel in Dorking last year. He immediately won his first Michelin Star. After employing some of Eric’s trainees, Steve phoned Eric to compliment him on his standard of training, and so now tonight we are to enjoy yet again the work of the master himself. I know you will all agree with us when we say we are most fortunate to have The French Table as one of our members.

Still in winter mode when it comes to lifestyle, this menu gives warmth and depth of flavours with the smooth veloute, the finesse of beef with the wagyu, and finally the lightness of the Opera gateau, encompassed in chocolate ganache and – I will leave you to enjoy the rest ‘en surprise’.

The Chapeldown wine reflects our pride in our burgeoning English vineyards and their prowess in producing whites of remarkable standards. We look forward to supporting them even more in the future as they win more awards in world class categories.
