Golden Age of Travel by Steam

October 14, 2017

Come and join us for lunch on the British Pullman (previously Orient Express) for a Champagne Reception, superb five course lunch with matching wines whilst siting in a carriage drawn by the recently restored Tornedo steam engine.

Belmond British Pullman Video.

In 1990, a charitable trust was formed with an extraordinary ambition: to build a brand-new Peppercorn A1 Pacific steam locomotive from scratch, as no working example survived. After 19 years of incredible effort, in 2008, No 60163 Tornado moved under its own steam for the first time. Fitted with additional water capacity and the latest safety electronics, the engine is fully equipped for today’s mainline railway.

As Belmond plan their menus seasonally we will be working with their team to develop an exception menu for Chaîne members which we will enjoy whilst journeying through the Surrey country side. On board is exemplary Silver Service supervised by the train manger and we are delighted that Chaîne Member Howard Barclay, their Sales Director will be joining us.

You might wish to dress up for this trip, but if not very smart casual, with Chaîne ribbons or badges and would advise that no jeans and trainers.

A booking form is attached and we have only a limited number of places available and these will be offered to London, City and Thames Valley members first and then from February to other members. Initially limited to member and one guest only. If more places become available then we will keep you advised.

The normal price for this trip is around £400 each but we are delighted to offer it at £325 each for members and one guest. If other places become available they will be at £350 each.
