Weekend In Lincoln

May 15, 2009

THAMES VALLEY’S WEEKEND AWAY AT HOME.

Normally Thames Valley makes an expedition to France in May each year, but due to the concerns over currency we decided to stay in the UK and ventured up to Lincoln. Relying on the expertise of Andy Angel, our Charge de Missions, selected our member establishment Straits Brasserie for Friday night and the Old Bakery on Saturday.

Straits (previously known as Viela and then having a Brazilian theme) and run by Maitre Rôtisseurs Richard Shucksmith provided us with a great evening with excellent food and service with a menu incorporating Richard signature dish ‘Spit Roasted Lincolnshire Sirloin of Beef with Ox-Tail & Bone Marrow Stuffed Potato’.

On Saturday we experience the gastronomique menu from Ivano de Serio at the Old Bakery Restaurant which featured 8 courses with a wine for each. This was truly an excellent menu and commented on by some of the guest the one of best meals they had experienced at any Chaîne event for a very long time. We are delighted to say that Ivano has also just joined the Chaîne and we recommend, if you are in Lincoln, to give him a call.
