Hosted by: Christian Conley Holthausen, International House Communications Director

Piper-Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck have rich histories in their own right. The audacious Piper-Heidsieck was founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck and its fans included Queen Marie Antoinette and Marilyn Monroe. The aristocratic Charles Heidsieck was found in 1851 by Charles Camille Heidsieck, the original “Champagne Charlie” and one of the most flamboyant personalities in Champagne history. These two great names in Champagne were in united in 1988 by the Remy Cointreau group and have since benefited from the expertise of a single winemaker, the celebrated Régis Camus. London’s prestigious International Wine Challenge has awarded Régis Camus the coveted “Sparkling Winemaker of the Year” Trophy in 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
