The Castle Hotel
The Castle is one of the most renowned 4-star hotels in England. It is also one of Great Britain’s most historic, with origins stretching over 1000 years. For more than 60 years, it has been run by three generations of the Chapman family.
Sitting at the gateway to England’s West Country, The Castle provides an ideal mix of town centre convenience with easy access to some of the most breathtaking landscapes that the South West has to offer.
The Castle’s philosophy of using only the finest local ingredients, translates into a dining experience that highlights the very best of the West Country.
Whether you are dining in Castle Bow, the Castle’s elegant but casual restaurant, BRAZZ, the contemporary brasserie or you’re having a light bite in Bow Bar, you can expect the best food in Taunton.
Our Chefs handpick their suppliers and foods from top quality producers in the region. Our meat is from J&A Gibbins of Exeter, a family run butchers for over 150 years, and our dairy products are from Longman’s Dairy in Yeovil, Somerset. We also highlight artisan cheeses from Somerset & Devon as well as grow our own herbs in The Castle’s Norman garden.
The pride and craftsmanship of our ingredients and the final plates that The Castle’s kitchen produces, shines through in every mouthful. We are so passionate about our food, that some of the best chefs in Britain have been inspired whilst working with us. Our string of successful chefs includes Gary Rhodes & Phil Vickery. Today, Liam Finnegan, who previously worked under Michael Caines at Gidleigh Park and Bath Priory, heads The Castle’s kitchens with his highly experienced team.
Our breakfast chef, Gerry Barge, has been with us for more than 40 years and makes all of The Castle’s jams and preserves. If you ask, he will make one for you to take home!
