A group of us from Thames Valley are going to Florence in April to support Danny Steck who will be recieving his Grand Commandeur’s badge for 40 years membership. Danny joined the Chaîne in 1974, in Sardinia, and thought it would be nice to celebrate his 40 anniversary in the Country where he joined.

Rather than just going to Florence we thought by going a little earlier we could visit Pisa and Lucca. We are delighted that Bailli Délégué Honoraire, Chris Lewis, who has a base in Pisa, has setup a short tour for us.

The suggestion is that we fly to Pisa on Wednesday 2nd April and after leaving our luggage at the hotel have a coffee and then a walking tour of Pisa. Our hotel will be Hotel Leonardo - > Via Tavoleria, 17 - 56126 Pisa > tel. + 39 050579946 www.hotelleonardopisa.it where Chris has organised a special rate of €81.50 including tax per double or twin. (Book direct mentioning Chaîne des Rôtisseurs ASAP). Dinner will be taken in one of Chris’s favourite restaurants in Pisa.

On Thursday morning, after a light breakfast, we will take the local train to Lucca and, after leaving the luggage at the station, tour the town with Chris as our guide. A late lunch will be organised at Buca di Sant’Antonio, which is a Chaîne member.

We will then take the single track railway to Florence arriving early evening where the Chapitre is taking place. The programme for Italy’s 46th Chapitre is attached which includes a list of hotels which you should book through the Clementson Travel Services (Page xi) who are making all of the Chapitre arrangements.

There are flights from Heathrow to Pisa with BA for about £155 return. There are also flights from Gatwick but the Wednesday flight does not get in till late afternoon.
